Macchina per prove di taglio diretto e residuo – AUTOSHEAR

Autoshear

The Autoshear is an apparatus used to perform direct shear tests on soil samples. This test determines the soil’s shear strength parameters, specifically the internal friction angle (φ) and cohesion (c).

The device is called “Autoshear” because it is automatic, allowing programmed control of the normal load and horizontal movement of the sample, continuously recording displacements and applied forces. It is commonly used in geotechnical laboratories for rapid and repeatable analyses.

Main features:

  • Test performed on a cylindrical or square sample cut into two halves.
  • Application of a constant normal force and progressive horizontal movement.
  • Measurement of shear strength along a predefined shear plane.
  • Modern versions are equipped with data acquisition software.
